This may look too good to be swing but it is. This is Aerith: A Road Trip Slideshow Editor, created by Richard Bair, Joshua Marinacci, Chet Haase, Chris Campbell and Romain Guy. It's built on Java 6 with Java2D, OpenGL, Timing Framework (for animations), SwingX, Matisse, Google Maps, Flickr, Yahoo! and more. It must to be a tough project, I believe.

There's a video of the keynote out (badly it's rm media so you need real player, I suggest real alternative), go about the middle of it to see Aerith live. The feeling after watch it is it's really really awesome.

The new design of keyboard

It seems people are more concern about the glossy screen but for me this is the most concern. The new design look similar to the VAIO SZ series which I ever tried a month ago. Its keyboard is terrible in reflection, I don't know how to say, you need to try it yourself. From the people who already tried the MacBook, they said it's better than iBook G4. This thing need a real touch, Apple Thailand go go!

The glossy screen

After look around, it seems similar to the screen of all notebook in the PC market. You could see your face! Well you have no option, what you can do is find the proper angle and accept that. MacBook Pro also has an option for glossy screen. I hope it still be an option forever.

The performance of Intel GMA 950 graphics processor

From the review from AnandTech, it's definitely not for game play. And it's not for Apple professional application like Aperture too. This make me think more serious about it but after I checked the price line for MacBook Pro again. I will try to fit my usage for MacBook instead

The black color

The photos from ThinkSecret showed the kind of black color of MacBook. It's not what I expected. More disappoing with its flip, I thought it would be a kind of translucent like the black iPod but it's not. Disappointed but acceptable because I'm falling in the black magic ha ha. For more specific reason, I think black is easier to keep it clean than white.

You can look for more detail at ArsTechnica. From their review, I really wonder about the benchmark score. MacBook 2.0GHz is faster than MacBook Pro 1.86GHz even in graphic test. They said the benchmark may not accurate for this test. By the way I count this as a good news. I think MacBook is worth for its price. I don't know how much does it cost here but I hope it won't too difference.

So we finished the job really well. Being the first and the last winner of FA Cup at Millennium Stadium is unbreakable record Steven Gerrard proved many things from this match, he is fantasist. Anyway, without him I don't think Liverpool will be in recession. We gone so far from that. Now I only pray for the incoming player. One world class striker, one international right wing and one prospect defender may be enough. If we can get the proper players, I think it's time for the title that we had waited for more than 10 years.

After read Reducing Visual Clutter on your Desktop. I feel like this is the right time to recover my productivity. I didn't follow the article yet but I'm sure whateve it is, it must be better than mine.

Consequently this article reminds me another article written by kun Pok. It took a while to find this article because Blogger doesn't provide categories and its search is not much accurate (at least in this case). My GTD (Get Thing Done) is another good one to follow.

So what I have to do now is just try those out. I'll give you the outcome soon.

PS. I feel like I am a bit horizontal organizer.

The first one is League Cup Final against Birmingham City in 2001. God send us ahead with a magnificient goal but eventually we won 5-4 on penalties.

The last one will be FA Cup Final agaist West Ham Utd. in 2006. Next year all major game in England will be back to the rebuilt Wembley stadium.

I hope the end will be as good as the beginning.

There are many people ask about this in Sun Java Forum like this one. But After surf around for a while yet I don’t see the final conclusion. Someone said it’s a bug of Java, someone said that you have to override the getPreferredSize method and blah blah.
I don’t know what is the right solution. So to make it more mess here is my solution.

1. Add TreeModelListener to TreeModel.
2. At treeNodesChanged, place this following code:tree_.firePropertyChange(JTree.ROOT_VISIBLE_PROPERTY, !tree_.isRootVisible(), tree_.isRootVisible());
3. Finish.

This is really really work around to solve the problem, I just force the JTree to repaint by change the root visible property and I don’t guarantee this will work for every circumstances. Any one knows the root cause and have the real solution please show me!

This could be the good answer for this question. In my case, the real problem is I didn’t send the correct TreePath to the TreeModelEvent. JTree need the TreePath to find which node has been changed.

TreePath is a path from the node to its parent. For instance, the parent of dec in above figure is template. So if I chage dec to decorate, I will create TreePath like this,

TreePath treePath = new Object[] { template, changedNode }

My tree model is something like this,

After you sent the correct TreePath, when your tree node is changed, JTree will repaint the changed node correctly.

I just heard from my colleague that Jolt Award 2006 is announced. Not many of those I have experienced with too bad.

The winner of UML tool for Design Tools and Modeling is Lattix LDM 2.0. I never try it before actually I stop doing design after the Rational Rose become obsolete and Rational Software Architecture is too much complex. I tried Argo UML once but not impressive at all.

This year Microsoft won on 3 categories which are Database Engines and Data Tools, Development Environments and Libraries, Frameworks, and Components.

Jira is missed on Defect Tracking, Change, and Configuration Management tools. It is Perforce SCM 2005. I'm using Jira and I think Jira is excellence enough.

And the winner for Web Development Tools is Rails 1.0. This award is not surprised because I heard it thousand times last year. It is the hottest web technology in this period. So if you want to try it don't miss the winner of Technical Book, Agile Web Development with Rails. It is wrote by David Thomas, the co-author of Pragmatic Programmer one of the best book for programmer which I'm not finish it yet

The most interesting for me from the list is Prefactoring (just because it sound like Refactoring . From the article at What is Prefactoring, it's about the catalog of best practice for development process. The review at amazon doesn't look good but I think I would like to read it.
